Marvis uses her talents as an author, dance instructor, and motivational speaker to enrich her community. As an author, she has published a novel, Nine Lives, a nonfiction book, Every Storm Runs out of Rain, a children's series, Grandmomma M, and contributed several entries for the Triangle Association of Freelancers' anthologies. As a dance instructor, she utilizes urban soul line dancing as a low-impact form of exercise, entertainment for pre-kindergarten to mature adults, and a health and wellness activity.
